This residential renovation in Lexington, Massachusetts was created for a busy family with pets looking to modernize their home while preserving its Queen Anne Victorian character. The design blends eclectic, modern, and contemporary interiors with traditional European influences, resulting in a home that feels cohesive, updated, and timeless.
The project goals centered on improving functionality, organization, and ease of maintenance, while creating a cozy, beautiful environment where the family could relax, unwind, and gather comfortably for everyday meals and entertaining.
Our full-service interior design scope included painting existing cabinetry with new paint and hardware, upgrading light fixtures, designing custom built-ins for improved storage and flow, refinishing floors, and specifying new furniture, upholstery, window treatments, custom upholstery, and a fresh backsplash. To maximize value and reduce disruption, existing appliances and countertops were retained.
Memorable custom features include bespoke millwork throughout the home, such as a custom range hood, fireplace surround, mudroom cabinetry, and shelving.
The most distinctive element is a custom-designed white oak dining table, thoughtfully crafted to expand for daily family use and contract to allow additional banquette seating when entertaining—an interior design solution that seamlessly balances beauty, flexibility, and real-life living.
Another purposefully designed feature, are custom mudroom cabinets created to bring order to everyday life.
Built-in storage for coats and shoes keeps clutter out of sight, so the home stays calm, organized, and functional—even on the busiest days.
